Home Remedies for Allergies

Searching for home remedies for allergies?

Do you find it hard coping with the changing of the seasons, as pollen, smog, mold, and dust run rampant?  You’re not alone. Literally millions of people deal with some form of allergy issue.

While there are simple things you can do at home to help (which we list below), never underestimate how stress affects your condition. Stress directly affects your entire body in terms of how your nervous, digestive, immune and cardiovascular systems operate.

Many chemicals and hormones are released during stressful periods. One is cortisol and if you don’t control its release on a long-term basis, it will affect how well your cells are able to ensure correct immune system function.

This is why sound therapy is quite effective in combination with the following home remedies for allergies, as sound based therapy helps reduces stress.

Home Remedies for Allergies

There’s a lot you can do with simple water to ease your allergy conditions.

  • Saline Solution: Use saline solution (simple salt water) to rinse out your nose and sinus canals.  Saline solution can remove irritants that become lodged in your nasal passages, reducing inflammation.

You can either buy saline solution at your local drug store or make your own with a pint of warm water and a teaspoon of salt.
  • Washing: Of course you already wash, but perhaps not at the right time. Washing after coming in from extended periods outdoors can rinse away the pollen that has collected on your clothes, skin, and hair that might irritate you later.

Hot water can also serve to break up your sinuses and help soothe any blockage. If you wake up in the middle of the night with itchy eyes or a runny nose, a hot shower can do wonders to help get you back to sleep.
  • Steam Your Face: Try it! Boil some water and pour it into a bowl or a plugged sink and watch the miracle happen.

Lean carefully over the boiled water with a towel draped behind your head and breathe easily and deeply for five to ten minutes. The steam will help soothe your sinuses and clear any blockages of mucus. It's also great for your skin.
  • Wash Your Pet: Dogs can produce allergens in their saliva and sweat, which gets into their fur, and then attacks you. Washing your pet frequently can help relieve this issue. This goes for cats, too. Also, try washing your hands whenever you have extended direct contact with your pet.
  • Dehumidifier: Invest in a dehumidifier. It can be effective in removing the moisture out of the air, as allergens love a nice moist environment to hang around in. It will also help prevent mold.

Allergy Soothing Foods

There are some tasty foods you might want to try that make dealing with allergies a lot more fun.

  • Wasabi: Wasabi is a Japanese member of the horseradish family, famous for its fiery kick. It also helps people who suffer from hay fever by kicking the tear ducts and sinuses into doing what they do best: clearing themselves.
  • Peppermint Tea: The essential oil in peppermint helps as a decongestant, an anti-inflammatory, and is also a mild anti-bacterial.

Other Measures to Take

Make sure to avoid going outside or getting too much air on smoggy days. Allergies will worsen (or even begin) when pollutants are running rampant on especially bad days.

If your allergies are particularly invasive, try getting rid of the carpet in your home. Carpet clings to an alarming amount of dust, pollen, and other allergens and keeps them thriving for a long, long time.

Using Sound Therapy as a Solution to Allergies

We mentioned above that sound healing is effective for your allergy symptoms. We’re sure you’re aware of how your allergies worsen during stressful times in your life.

In fact, stress can cause all types of physical ailments, ranging from asthma to high blood pressure to chest pains to depression.

Sound therapy, by bathing your organs and tissue with “correcting” frequencies, is able to bring your cells back into vibrational harmony and allows them to communicate properly again.

When this happens, you experience a dramatic decrease in stress and anxiety, and in turn, a decrease in stress related physical conditions, such as allergies.
